armadillo

Did you know…?

If a dwarf armadillo is attacked, it rolls itself into a ball or pushes itself into a hole in the ground. The hard shell makes it difficult for the hunter to pull it from the hole.

The dwarf armadillo hibernates for most of the winter but it comes out of its hole occasionally if the weather is mild. It eats a lot of food before hibernating but loses a lot of weight by springtime.

The dwarf armadillo is a good swimmer – it can hold its breath under water for approximately 4 to 6 minutes.
